Artist Profile: Robert Hague

Robert Hague born in New Zealand moved to Australia in 1985. His abstract sculptures in bronze and welded steel have earned him his reputation as a high quality and inventive artist, with exhibitions and private commissions throughout Australia and beyond. Hague’s sculptural forms are conceived as compositions, as with abstract painting, and possess a sense of dynamism and movement. The words of one recent reviewer attest to Hague’s reputation: It is always exciting when an artist has sufficient confidence in their own work to allow the audience to interact with, and interpret, it as they choose. It is also exciting to see artworks of such high quality; it tells us the artist respects his craft as well as the viewer.
