Heather Anne Atkins

Heather Anne Atkins’s passion for hand built ceramics started in her teens whilst studying at Northcote College in Auckland. In the 1980’s she moved to Hawkes Bay where she established herself and became a well-known Ceramicist.

In 1982 she was the recipient of the National Ceramic Award at the ‘Ceramics 82 Symposium’ in Auckland. Throughout her career Atkins has exhibited widely, with interest in her works developing abroad, particularly in Hawaii. A memorable moment in Heather Anne Atkins career, was having one of her unique ceramic houses presented to the late Princess Diana, which was presented by the Governor General, Sir David Beattie at Government House during the 1983 Royal New Zealand Tour. The resulting thank you note from the Princess remains a treasured memento.

Heather Anne Atkins now works from her home studio in Auckland. The artist has art in collections world-wide and continues to take commissions for her ceramic heritage houses.
